He's A Big Kid Now

We reached another milestone over the weekend.  It was time to convert the crib into a toddler bed.
This is what it looked liked our first night home with the K-Man.

And this is him now.

He's such a big boy!

So far we haven't had any difficulties with the transition, mainly because I don't think he realizes he can get out of his bed by himself yet.  I have a feeling that's all about to change!

Now if he would just get out of diapers...

A Trip To The Office

A couple of weeks ago Madeline had a day off from school so I thought that would be a good time to visit the place that occupies most of my husband's day.  We arranged to meet him for lunch at his new office .  I miss the old days of just being able to drop in to surprise him.  Now we have to go through three different security check points and wear an ID badge that says GUEST - Must be accompanied at all times.  Sigh.

He gave us the grand tour and we ate in their cafeteria - kids get free cookies.  We met one of the guys who helped Rex get the job.  Madeline played hide and seek with the furniture.  Kenan wanted to play in the water feature in the lobby.  I wanted to go around a few times in the revolving door 'cause I think they're fun, but I didn't.  Rex got zero work done for the hour and a half we were there.

Hmmm, wonder if we'll be invited back?

Our First Road Gig

Today my ladies ensemble, One Voice, is off to our first out of town performance!  We'll be singing for a Ladies Night Out at FBC-Asheboro.  Please pray for our safety as we travel and for our families while we're gone for the evening.

I'm having to miss Madeline's concert at school which is a first for me.  She's being very understanding but it's not so easy for this mama.  I realize it's a timing issue that was going to happen sooner or later but it doesn't make dealing with it any easier.  So, while you're at it, pray that my feelings don't interfere with the message.

Sidenote:  This is our promo pic we were asked to provide for their programs.  Who knew there were that many shades of blonde?  Real or not?  I ain't talkin'!  Ha!  Ha!

Happy 3rd Birthday Kenan!

Three different women are thinking of you today.  The first gave you life and made one of the hardest decisions she would ever have to.  She chose to give you a better life than what she could provide knowing it meant she would not get to see who you would grow up to be, to experience the joy of your smile, to hear your giggles or feel your soft brown skin as you snuggle close.

Three different women are thinking of you today.  The second took care of you for your first eleven months in this world.  She chose the difficult task of caring for a newborn and loving you like her own even though she knew it would only be temporary.

Three different women are thinking of you today.  The third simply chose you.  She didn't have to but she wanted to.  She is priveleged to watch you grow and discover each day.  She gets to caress your head and kiss your cheeks every day.  She gets to hold you close and comfort you.  She gets to hear you say, Mommy.

Happy 3rd Birthday my sweet boy!  You are loved the world over.
